It's time to move waaaaay beyond the G, C, D, and Em chords you probably already know. (And if you don't know them yet, even better, because I can show you the easy way to get them under your fingers!) We're going to connect these chords with one simple but genius trick that gives you a richer G chord, a much easier C chord, and an Em chord that flows seamlessly through all of them and adds some beautiful texture. And D chord is, well, D chord, soooo...yeah, we'll leave that one as it is...for now.

Let's take what we just learned in Module 1 about the typical chords in the key of G, and expand it even further. In this module, we'll add another 2 chords to that palette, and show you a great tip for unifying the sound (and finger mechanics!) of the key of G.

Key of D is the next logical place to go because so many of our worship chord charts are in D. Again, D chord doesn't change from what you probably already know, but when I show you how to look at it a little bit differently, it will open the door to smoothly connecting all the chords in D. I'm also going to show you an absolutely magical A chord and Bm chord that will completely transform the way you play and feel in the key of D. And with an easy G chord that hangs right along with them, this might become your new favorite chord family!

These key of D bonus lessons will dish out 2 extra chords—one that will look very familiar but will give you an "Aha" moment when you see how it connects; and one that will add movement, dynamics, and energy to your playing. We'll also talk again about the anchor point for all these chords, giving you that pivot position that will make your chord changes seamless.

I'm not gonna lie, E is probably my favorite key on guitar and I can't wait to show you why. Of course your E chord isn't going to look any different, but it's going to set you up for a new version of an A chord that's like rocketboosters for the rest of this key. And say goodbye to barre chords for the B and C#m because I've got tricks that will make you say, "Why hasn't anyone ever shown me this before!?!?"

Like with the key of D and key of G bonus lessons, the key of E bonus lessons are going to offer up some extra chords. This will give you broader range, and create some opportunities that add a little interest when you're sitting on an E chord for a measure or two. And then my absolute favorite trick of all: showing you how to use the basic E shape up and down the neck for incredible sonic texture and lush sounds. You're gonna love this one!

If you've ever listened to a folky, singer-songwriter song, it was probably in the key of C! We're going to show you how you can apply this family of chords to a worship context, especially by solving the problem of the very-hard-to-play traditional F chord shape. (Spoiler alert: we're not using the traditional shape! And the end result is easier chord transitions and a more beautiful sound!)

Again, we'll reveal an extra chord for the key of C, here in these bonus lessons. And then I'll move on to show you how to use your thumb to play notes on the fretboard, too. (Did you know you could do that? I know! Crazy.) We'll put it all together for the full effect of this family, showing you how they all flow one to the other.

And I want to show you how to read and play these slash chords so that when you come across them in your worship charts you feel confident, know exactly what to do, and can play them easily.

I get it: the fretboard can be a little confusing. Every fret looks identical, and we use note names to identify them, but it's not like our guitars come with those note names pre-labeled on there! Buuuuuuut, it's incredibly useful to take a minute to learn how the fretboard is set up, so that we're prepared and ready to tackle barre chords (the easy way!) and use a capo intelligently. Hang with me here—3 minutes on this simple topic pays a lifetime of dividends, I promise you!

No need to run screaming from the room as soon as someone mentions a barre chord, because we're going to show you the simple tricks to making them easy and pain-free. Because I'll bet no one's ever explained the proper finger and hand position of barre chords: where to place your fingers (and thumb!) to play comfortably and produce a good sound. So I want to change that for you, and we'll start with the E-shape barre chords because it helps you understand what chord you're actually playing as you move up and down the fretboard. From there, we'll move on to minor barre chords, and then alternate "small" versions of both the major and minor barre chords, too. By the time we're done—no lie—you'll have 48 new chords added to your repertoire!

Oh, the capo! My favorite tool. And I hope it becomes yours, too! Let's take some time to learn how to use a capo, where to place it, and what chords to play with it. We'll demystify this across the chord families of G, C, and E, giving you a ton of options to choose from when you want to use a capo to add some interest to your parts. Let's leave behind all the chatter about a capo being a cheat, and let's instead leverage it as an intentional tool that opens up an entirely new world of gorgeous sound.

In these final bonus lessons I'll start by showing you a fantastic trick with a capo that I'm pretty sure you've never seen before. Then I'll give you some insider tips on adding (literal) motion and movement to your chords to spice them up. And we'll wrap up with the strumming secret that has become the signature sound of my worship playing—tbh, more than anything else I've ever learned!
